Identity-Based Stress

  • You did not accept yourself because of implicit messages telling you that your being is lacking in some way resulting in you living with unwarranted self-hatred and shame

  • You tried all your might to fit in or be accepted and found yourself continue to being othered and/or stigmatized ending up feeling confused of who you are

  • You feel exhausted having to constantly face -ism/-phobia and microaggressions and notice yourself wondering if there is something wrong with you

  • You feel frozen because of the discrepancy between the life you want to lead and the life that is expected and/or demanded by your community of origin

You had to shed who you truly are as a person in an attempt to claim your space and to prove that you belong. However, you realized that continuing to betraying yourself isn’t an option anymore.
