Policies
New client onboarding
Before we agree to work together, you and I will talk over the phone (click here to request a free 15-min consultation call). During the call, I hope to learn more about your reasons for seeking therapy and for you to learn more about me by asking questions to assess if we are a good fit. If we mutually agreed to work together, we will schedule an intake appointment.
Before the first appointment, you will receive an email from TherapyAppointment (Electric Health Record system for my practice) asking you to complete pre-intake paperwork including consent forms, questionnaires, and payment information. I expect these forms to be completed before your intake appointment. If they are not completed, we will have to spend a portion of your appointment to complete them, which leaves a shorter time for an intake.
Payment
I am not paneled with any health insurance and I am a private pay, out-of-network provider. Please check FAQ to learn why.
I can provide a superbill. Please check FAQ below to learn more about superbill. Here are a couple options for superbill:
I provide a superbill to you and you submit it to insurance for reimbursement.
I assist the reimbursement process through Mentaya, an AAPI woman-owned company, that offers a service that streamlines getting reimbursed for your therapy sessions through out-of-network benefits. Mentaya charges a 5% fee per claim, which includes handling any paperwork required, dealing with denials, and calling insurance companies. They guarantee claims are successfully submitted, or a full refund of their fees. I am happy to verify your out-of-network benefits during our consultation call. Please check FAQ to see if Mentaya can be a good option for you.
Your payment is due after each session. You will be automatically charged using the payment information you provided after each session.
Accepted forms of payment include credit and HSA/FSA cards. I do not accept cash or checks.
Late cancellation & missed appointment
If you cancel with less than 24 hours (1 day) notice or miss a session without canceling, you will be charged at 75% of the fee for the duration of the scheduled session.

I understand that paying out-of-pocket for therapy can feel like a big investment, so I would like to be transparent about why and how I can support you in making it work.
When insurance is involved, it often means some limits on the course of treatment (e.g., number of sessions, approach I take, what we can work on) that may not be best to address your needs, issues with reimbursements (e.g., lower reimbursement rates than what is appropriate for my level of training and experiences, possible denials), and resulting administrative burdens (e.g., a lot of paperwork, phone calls with a long wait time) that pull my attention away from clients.
To provide quality of care you deserve while maintaining sustainable practice, I’ve set fees that reflect my training and allow me to continue growing professionally. Instead, I can assist you to get possible reimbursements through your out-of-network benefits by providing superbill or using Mentaya.

Here is a link that explains superbill.
An important note from the link: “Before your first session, check with your insurance provider to confirm whether you have out-of-network coverage, whether prior authorization is needed, and what portion of the cost they may reimburse.” Please note that having a superbill does not guarantee reimbursement.

Mentaya can be a good fit if you:
• Have out-of-network benefits
• Feel overwhelmed by superbills and insurance
• Have submitted superbills but failed to get any reimbursement
• Simply want to skip the hassle of paperwork

Many of the pictures that you see in this website were taken by me.
Sunbeam through tree branches (taken while on a hammok in a park): I hope that our work together can bring more brightness to your life.
Pictures of WA nature (taken while being out exploring): Wherever I go, I find joy in noticing and appreciating small hidden gems that might go unnoticed from shaggy plants on a trail, night sky full of stars that I would have missed if I didn’t lift my head, a small stone with “kindness” written sitting on moss, a mushroom growing out of damp dirt, to a bumblebee sipping from a flower. The same practice of noticing and appreciating can be done within ourselves to pay attention to our own strengths and wisdom.
Mayo, white Jindo (taken on her 7th birthday): Mayo is a skittish Jindo that was rescued from a high kill shelter in Korea when she was about 30-day old. She is getting braver as she has gotten older but not at a pace that I would like her to be. She is a good reminder to be kind and patient to ourselves as healing and growth happen at their own pace that may not follow our timeline.
A snail (taken at dawn): Snail is my spirit animal because it embodies slow living, away from grind/hustle/fast-paced culture that sweeps us away from what is really important to us.
A pig napping (taken at a farm): This pig started my obsession to farm animals. I wish I learned their name!
Mori, black & tan Jindo (taken while Mori is chewing on a bench when he was teething): Mori is a Jindo who was rescued from Korea and he loves chasing squirrels and bunnies.
